To Sage means to cleanse.

Emotionally, physically and spiritually, when you burn sage you are creating space for healing.

Sage is an herb commonly known for its use in cooking.  The sage we are talking about here is White American Burning Sage, a different form of sage which cleanses and purifies people, spaces and items.

While Native American sage burning is the most commonly recognized form of it today, it has indeed become a shared practice in cultures all over the world.

First let’s talk about why you should sage.

Burning sage is one of the oldest and purest methods of cleansing a person, group of people or space.  Sage is known to remove unwanted energy and clear away any bad ‘ju-ju’.

White American Sage is the one you should use, and you can purchase it at any new age shop, online, or even your local Whole Foods in the supplements section.

Sage burning cleansing rituals can be as elaborate or as simple as you want them to be, but it’s of the highest importance that your intention be clear before you begin.

If you are burning sage to purify a space, or a person (this includes yourself) then this needs to be clearly planted in your mind before you the light the sage, and while taking the smoke around a home, or through a space.

While ‘saging’ around yourself or another, please be sure to go from the top of the head and work your way down, as to purify the energy through and then out.

It’s also a great idea to sage a new piece of jewelry after purchase , or any new trinket so that the only energy on it is yours.  As you can tell, I am a bit sage happy! 🙂

I light sage before and after reading for any client. I set my intention before to clear myself for the reading, and then after to clear the space and myself of the previous clients energy, getting ready for the next client.

I also sage my cards & crystals after each use.

Once a week, and often daily, I go through my home ‘saging’ all of the corners in each room. Extreme? Maybe, but the space and me always feel lighter afterwards.

After you light the sage, be careful not to breathe it in directly and remember: A little bit goes a long way, you don’t want to smoke yourself out!

Clear your mind as you walk through your space with the sage and allow your intuition to guide you to the areas that need the most cleansing.

This will mostly be the areas with the heaviest foot traffic i.e.- the front doorway , your sleeping & working areas, etc…. like I mentioned earlier once a week is perfect but feel free to do it more than that.

Those are the basics!  Pretty simple practice yet highly effective.  This is truly very healing and cleansing, give it a try..

Wednesday  7/31 11:11 PM EST, we experience a very positive and uplifting New Moon in the bright sign of the Lion, Leo.

A New Moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, the movement of the moon through its different phases.

New Moons are a time of new beginnings.  The beginning of a new cycle, a time to initiate plans and projects, get things moving, a fresh start.  Abundance typically surrounds this energy.

New Moons are auspicious times filled with promise and opportunity.

The Sun aligns with the Moon in the sky when it’s a New Moon meaning, that they are in the same sign –Leo.

Leo falls under the element of Fire and is a warm and vivacious sign, typically quite courageous and influenced to act.

As this sign rules over the heart, we can feel much more connected to our truth at this time, to our center.  We are much more likely to express ourselves and our truth more freely as well.

This New Moon is extra positive and can bestow many blessings upon us due to planet Jupiters influence.

Jupiter the planet of blessings, abundance, and good fortune is sitting very close with this New Moon, shining brightly and helping us to smooth things over.  This is the major planetary influence at the moment and it is fantastic.

Mercury will also station direct on the same day as the New Moon,  providing a cosmic sigh of relief.  We can finally begin to feel things straighten out a bit.

The 7/31 New Moon marks the start of some very promising astrology and potential for long awaited opportunities.  This is an amazing time to create, to express ourselves. 

Starting now and pretty much for the next 6-8 weeks, intimacy is the name of the game.  What will be highlighted is how we experience truth both within ourselves and about ourselves, and also with others.  How honest we are with our feelings, the way that we express ourselves, or do not.  Where we may need some TLC.

Above all else, get out and play under this energy!

Today 7/22 the Sun shifts from the emotional and introspective water sign of Cancer into the proud, courageous and flamboyant sign of the heart, Leo.

Happy Birthday to all of the Leos out there!

The energy becomes more light-hearted, more fun loving and boy do we need it after these past few weeks!

Leo is the 2nd fixed sign of the zodiac after Taurus.  Fixed meaning level, immovable at times, and slow to change.  Fixed signs are determined and keep things moving.  *The other fixed signs are Scorpio and Aquarius.

This sign is ruled by the Sun and is under the element of Fire meaning active, warm, extroverted and bright.  But sometimes if you get too close, you can get a sunburn 😉

The best side of Leo is lively, courageous, loyal, supportive and motivated when it is for a cause they believe in.

People born under this sign are typically bright and great conversationalists.  They love to be in the spotlight somehow and can be quite entertaining.

The shadow side of Leo is that they can be arrogant (possibly more so than any other sign) , greedy, selfish, they can have this need to always be right and display quite the reluctance to admit any wrong-doings.

Most of the time , Leo souls typically have hearts of gold at the core and truly just desire to be respected at the end of the day.

They like to feel loved and adored, and in turn they treat the ones they care for the same way.

The tarot card that represents this sign is number 8, Strength

This is quite literal as Leos are strong.

This Strength can be a quiet strength but it is both of the mind and the body. They are represented by the Lion, after all. 

Numbers are also spiritually symbolic.  As this card is an ‘8’, in numerology this represents karmic justice i.e., reaping what you sow for both better or worse.

As the number of ‘karmic equalizing’, this means they can create just as simply as they can destroy.  Just like the Lion.

Beginning this week and pretty much all of August, we have a ‘breath of fresh air’ when it comes to the energy.  We will begin to feel more optimistic and joyful as things begin to lighten up astrologically.

These next few weeks can feel quite nice, a lot more easy going.  It’s about time after all of the soggy, emotional Cancer energy we have just come off of!

7/16- 5:38 PM EST we have a Partial Lunar Eclipse / Full Moon in the earth sign of Capricorn.

Full Moons are times of great release, purging and cleansing.  

A Full Moon happens when the Sun is opposite the Moon.

This highlights the polarities (opposing forces) in our lives.

These polarities are of an emotional, physical and spiritual nature.  It can be one area or all three, and each Full Moon will feel different based on the sign and planetary aspects surrounding the Moon.

Awareness and emotion reach their peak and are heightened around Full Moons.  This is why we feel more edgy and anxious around these times, sometimes not even being able to sleep.

The Moon rules our subconscious, the raw emotions that lurk underneath the surface.

Everything comes to a head under this energy.  There is a tug of war between head and heart at this time.

Since this is a Lunar Eclipse, this energy of the Full Moon is totally magnified and represents cycles in our lives.

Imagine how strong this feels, the pull of emotion we may feel under this energy.

This Eclipse feels much different than the July 2nd Solar Eclipse as this one is a South Node Eclipse- attached to the past.  That which needs to be released to help us grow, to move forward is highlighted.

Ask yourself these important questions at this cosmic check-point :

• Where do I feel stuck, and is this simply an illusion based off fear?
• What am I afraid of?
• What am I holding tightly to- in the forms of people, projects, situations?
• Am I happy, comfortable, neither or both?
• Am I inherently unhappy or simply projecting?
• What can I afford to release for my highest good?

Pay very close attention to what exits and enters your awareness at this time as it is divinely guided!

This is a pretty potent time and takes form in many different ways, there is no ‘one size fits all’ formula for everyone- please remember this.

Monday 7/8, planet Mercury a.k.a. ‘The Messenger Of The Gods’ stations retrograde in the proud sign of the heart, Leo.

When Mercury is retrograde meaning appears to be moving backwards in the sky, the energy of this planet turns inward, and can cause a few blunders.

Travel, electronics and most importantly, communication can definitely feel wonky and there is stronger potential for mistakes and misunderstandings.

Does this mean do not travel, do not communicate and do not use technology?  Of course not!

It is in fact a great time to reassess, reevaluate and realign yourself and your ‘work’ to take stock for the future.

Once Mercury stations direct on 7/31, you will likely feel a sense of clarity.

This time period is focused on what nurtures us, what makes us feel most complete.

The planets are very active this month and it does affect us!
