What is home?

The Cancer New Moon has us contemplating this very question… even if unconsciously.

Home is so much more than a place. It is a feeling, a place within us that feels right, cozy. Home is a solid foundation we construct for ourselves emotionally, physically, spiritually.

Friday 7/5 6:57 PM ET, we have a beautiful New Moon in the sign of nostalgic and intuitive Cancer.

A New Moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, the movement of the moon through its different phases.

New Moons are a time of new beginnings.  The beginning of a new cycle, a time to initiate plans and projects, get things moving, a fresh start. 

Abundance surrounds this energy.

New Moons are auspicious times filled with promise and opportunity.

The Sun aligns with the Moon in the sky when it’s a New Moon meaning, that they are in the same sign –Cancer.

Cancer is a Cardinal, Water sign. Water signs are intuitive, feeling their way through life. Cardinal signs initiate. Emotional and intuitive, Cancer energy is deep and protective. Based upon our strong feelings at this time, action will be taken in one or more area of our lives.

This New Moon brings a lot up to the surface in the way of our emotions and our opinions, but overall it has the potential to be cathartic and healing. Once we lean into what is coming up, that is.

Cancer is the Mother of the zodiac, she represents the parts of ourselves that are home, our most secure and insecure places. She speaks of family, and what that means to us. This refers to family of origin, and our chosen family.

New Moons are the point of the Lunar Cycle much like the Mother, giving birth, bringing forth new life.

This New Moon is ruled by the Moon itself, as the Moon rules the sign of Cancer. Therefore, the overall energy is even more fertile, creative and abundant; such an amazing time to set intentions!

Think of it this way: this is the Moons favorite New Moon of the year! It has an almost magical feel to it, with the potential to finally close doors that need to be closed, to make way for all of the ones that are ready to open.

Adding more magic to this energy, is the fact that the planets Saturn (control, boundaries, discipline), Mars (action, energy, initiative) and Venus (connection, love, money) are all making supportive aspects to this New Moon.

Neptune is now retrograde at the 29th degree. This has our intuition ramped up, and is encouraging us to go inward for the answers. Where we don’t know, we simply flow. Allow the answers to come to you psychically, organically. *Much more on this in the above video/reading.

Keep a dream journal! Insights are coming through our sleeping space. Our higher self is much more active around this New Moon, and all of Cancer season.

Minus a few tense spots, the sky is smiling down at us at this time.

Aquamarine is the stone I have chosen for this New Moon. This stone encourages us to stay in our heart and in our power, exercising our throat chakra and speaking our truth where necessary.

Where difficult conversations may need to be had, allow the energy of Aquamarine (or whatever stone you choose), to assist you with remaining in a higher vibration; helping to remain compassionate to the needs of others, but most important, staying loyal and compassionate to self.

Take some time under the dark, quiet skies of the New Moon, to reflect and set intentions.

Ask yourself:

What has me feeling nourished, nurtured and supported right now? Which relationships, connections, situations, are feeding my soul? Are any draining my energy, my soul?

Where do I stay out of obligation, versus genuine satisfaction or desire?

What creative projects am I looking to get out into the light? It’s time to make a plan!

What am I looking to bring more of into my life?

How can I nurture and tend to , my goals and vision for my future?

Am I connected to my own soul? Do I trust in the power of the unseen, my faith?
