Friday 7/9 9:16 PM ET (7/10 depending on where you live), we have a beautiful New Moon in the sign of nostalgic and intuitive Cancer.

A New Moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, the movement of the moon through its different phases.

New Moons are a time of new beginnings.  The beginning of a new cycle, a time to initiate plans and projects, get things moving, a fresh start. 

Abundance surrounds this energy.

New Moons are auspicious times filled with promise and opportunity.

The Sun aligns with the Moon in the sky when it’s a New Moon meaning, that they are in the same sign –Cancer.

Cancer is a Cardinal Water sign. Water signs feel, Cardinal signs initiate. Emotional and intuitive, Cancer energy is deep and protective. Based upon their strong feelings, action will be taken.

This New Moon brings a lot up to the surface in the way of our emotions and our opinions, but overall it has the potential to be cathartic and healing. Once we lean into what is coming up, that is.

Cancer is the Mother of the zodiac, she represents the parts of ourselves that are home, our most secure and insecure places.

New Moons are the point of the Lunar Cycle also like the Mother, also giving birth, bringing forth new life.

This New Moon is ruled by the Moon itself, which rules Cancer. Therefore, the overall energy is even more fertile, creative and abundant; such an amazing time to set intentions.

Think of it this way: this is the Moons favorite New Moon of the year! It has an almost magical feel to it, with the potential to finally close doors that need to be closed, to make way for all of the ones that are ready to open.

Adding more magic to this energy, is the fact that our three outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are dancing with this New Moon and in mostly supportive ways.

Uranus is making a Sextile to the Sun and Moon, which is like a blessing that comes in to clear a path (or two)! Uranus is ‘The Great Awakener’ so yes, it can be totally unexpected, even disruptive, but ultimately it liberates.

This frees us from a pattern, a situation or a relationship.

Sun/Moon trining Neptune, we are gifted with vision(s) that reveal information. As Neptune is the planet of psychic energy, of the mystical- this information will be subtle and can even come to you through a dream. Pay close attention to what your intuition is trying to tell/show you.

New Moon opposite Pluto: now this is where power dynamics in relationships will present themselves to you. Where do you need to regain control? OR where can you back down and relinquish control? Questions to ponder to help you move forward.

Even more to the point that this time is all about how we connect and who we connect to; Venus our feminine planet of love, connection and value is very active this whole week leading right up to this Cancer New Moon.

In Leo, Venus is even more passionate and heart-centered. She wants what she wants, and she wants to be adored and respected. If she isn’t? That Lion will roar.

Venus will come up against Saturn (Wednesday) then move on to square Uranus. Blind spots are likely to be revealed in our connections .

Up against Saturn, this energy shows us where we feel confined, irritated and constricted within our emotions as all Venus wants is to express herself from the heart. If she feels shut our or disrespected, this is where the shadow side of Leo energy comes in.

With Uranus, sparks produced can break the mold, break us free from the cages that we’ve built around our hearts. This can feel very liberating, but it can also feel unsettling!

New connections can also come in, bringing with them some much needed excitement, electricity even. What you do with this? That is up to you as it is free-will versus fate and both are very real.

Overall this time feels emotional and cleansing, revealing of our deepest wants and desires.
